First Baptist School is a co-educational college preparatory school in historic downtown Charleston that has been educating children in the tri-county area for 69 years.  Accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), Advanced Ed and the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA), 100% of First Baptist School students attend college.  Over the last eight years, our graduates have received over $24 million in scholarship offers.

Our goal is not only to prepare your child for college but to develop the whole child – mind, body and soul.  First Baptist offers an advanced academic curriculum that is enhanced with fine arts, athletics and religious emphasis through Bible classes and regular chapel services.  First Baptist strives to provide a nurturing classroom environment with emphasis on small class size, experienced teachers and technology available in the classroom and various labs throughout the school.

The best way to learn about a school is to visit the campus.  When you visit First Baptist School the director of admissions will meet with you to share what the school has to offer your child, answer your questions and give you a tour of the campus where you will have the opportunity to observe our classroom environment first hand.  Students may also wish to schedule a “Shadow Day” where they will have the opportunity to follow a First Baptist student through the course of the day, observing the curriculum and meeting the students.  This allows your student to have input in your decision as you choose the school that best meets your student’s educational needs.

The application process begins with the submission of the enrollment application and transcript from the student’s current school.  Once the application is received, individual or group testing is scheduled.  Entrance testing is required for students entering four year kindergarten through the twelfth grade.  Acceptance to First Baptist is based on admissions test results, observation of your student during testing and past academic performance.  The admissions committee looks carefully in accepting students that will be able to perform on the level of our current student body.
