Auxiliary Programs
At First Baptist School of Charleston, our auxiliary programs are thoughtfully designed to provide a seamless extension of the school day, offering enriching experiences that engage and inspire students beyond the classroom. These programs are crafted to provide supplementary resources and support that not only enrich the student experience but also promote overall well-being.
Whether it's through creative arts, sports, or academic enhancement, our services are tailored to complement the core academic curriculum, ensuring a comprehensive educational journey. We strive to meet the diverse development needs of our students, fostering an environment where they can explore their interests, build new skills, and grow holistically. Our goal is to nurture well-rounded individuals prepared to succeed in all aspects of life.
Extended Day Program
To assist working parents, First Baptist School offers an Extension Program to Lower School and Middle School families. Children who enroll in the Extension Program will engage in free play, East Bay playground visits, games, and homework time. The Extension Program is housed in 48 Meeting, Carriage House and Middle School buildings.
The Extension Program operates Monday through Friday, beginning the first full day of school and continuing through the last day of school (provided sufficient enrollment is maintained). The hours are from the end of the school day until 5:30 p.m. There will be a late fee of $1 per minute beginning at 5:31 p.m. There will be no Extension Program during school holidays.

After school enrichments are available to K4-8th grade students.
Offerings vary each semester and by grade. View our current semester offerings below!
Aftercare is available for students that need to stay beyond the club end time until 5:30 pm. Please be sure to add extended care to your registration if your student will be staying.

Led by Ms. Debbie Bowers, students will learn beyond classroom art and work on different projects throughout the semester.

Fizz, Foam, Flavor
Step into the exciting world of bubbly experiments and tasty creations! In this hands-on class on Tuesdays, kids will explore the magic of reactions, textures, and flavors through fun, safe experiments and creative projects.
They’ll mix fizzy reactions, create foamy concoctions, and even discover ways to make flavors pop in snacks and drinks! This class sparks curiosity, encourages creativity, and makes learning about science and taste a delicious adventure!

School of Empty Hand Art is bringing back Karate Club to FBS!

Join our after-school music lessons with Dr. Margaret Byrd! Students will have the opportunity to learn piano in a fun and encouraging environment, building skills and confidence each week.

Cheer 101
Get your spirit on! On Thursdays Cheer 101, students will learn fun new cheers, chants, and routines as they prepare for the exciting Tropical Storms 2026 season! 🌀💙 Creative cheer crafts, basic stunting, and teamwork challenges that build confidence, coordination, and school spirit will all be part of this enrichment. Let’s cheer loud and proud!

This will be held on Thursdays on the James Island Campus with Coach Murphy and Coach Booker. Students will be bused from the Downtown Campus to JI on the shuttle/small bus.

Come explore the versatile LEGO system with Pastor Chris from FBC while learning basic building techniques and amazing advanced design ideas! Builders of all experience levels will enjoy 🤖 guided builds, 🪜 free build time, and 🎯 group challenges!

Chess Club
Chess Club introduces students to the game of chess and combines both educational and social activities. Students will get together to play, to learn, to teach, to meet old friends, and to make new ones. Chess Club welcomes students with varied levels of skill, experience, and age.
The Knight School will be leading instruction for K4-3rd grade.

The Game Table: Strategy & Skill Games
Love games? Like strategy, teamwork, and a little friendly competition?
Join The Game Table—a weekly club hosted by Justin Donnahoo at First Baptist Church. We’ll play everything from quick games like Tenzi and Skyjo to strategic hits like Wingspan and Marvel Dice Throne.
It’s fun, challenging, and a great way to connect.
This will be held on Thursdays by Pastor Justin Donnahoo who is the Student Minister for First Baptist Church of Charleston. It will be held in the Youth Room in 22 Water Street.

Petit Panache Fashion-Design/Sewing
Calling all future designers! Join Lulu Long and the Petit Panache Fashion team for an exciting after-school Fashion Design & Sewing Enrichment. Students will explore the fundamentals of fashion, design, and sewing in a creative and engaging environment that encourages self-expression.
This hands-on program will begin with basic sewing techniques, including how to use a sewing machine, and progress toward designing and creating original pieces through fun and collaborative projects.

Step Into the Spotlight
In this exciting performing arts class on Thursdays, students will explore the magic of the stage through acting 🎭, singing 🎤, and movement 💃. Each week, they’ll build confidence 💪, express creativity 🎨, and strengthen key performance skills like projection, stage presence, and character development.
Through fun exercises, group scenes, and mini-performances 🌟, every student will have a chance to shine and step into the spotlight!
