Our 8th graders had a great time in Washington, DC last month!

Greetings, First Baptist Community!

As we step into April, the saying “April showers bring May flowers” offers more than just a nod to spring—it speaks to the beauty that can bloom from life’s storms. In this season of Easter, we’re reminded that from sorrow came resurrection, and from death came life. “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25) These words from Jesus call us to hope, even when the skies are gray. It is in the rain and renewal of this season that we see God cultivating something beautiful in each of our students, our school, and our community.

Before Spring Break, we had the opportunity to celebrate our incredible teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week, March 24–28. Their dedication, creativity, and faith-filled leadership shine brightly, and we are beyond grateful for the way they pour into our students each day. It is a joy to work alongside such passionate educators who care deeply about both the academic and spiritual growth of every child.

We’re thrilled to recognize this year’s FBS Teachers of the Year, who have each modeled excellence, compassion, and strength in their classrooms: Mrs. Courtney Fuller (K–5), Mrs. Kelly Blalock (6–8), and Mrs. Paula Gomez (9–12). Their impact reaches far beyond their lesson plans, and we are proud to honor them for their outstanding work.

This month, our students are engaging in a meaningful, school-wide mission project. We’re partnering with Global Partners in Life to help build a chicken coop and purchase chickens to support orphans and widows in India. The organization’s CEO—Walker Maginnis, former Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church—spoke in Chapel on both campuses this week, inspiring our students with stories and the purpose behind the initiative. Be sure to ask your child about “chicken change”—each class has an egg carton bank collecting coins and contributions, and families can also donate online at bit.ly/GPILDonate. We’ll send home more information after Spring Break and collect donations through April 22.

As we head into the second half of the semester, let’s continue to stand strong together. Though this time of year can be full and fast-paced, it is also rich with opportunity. Let’s encourage our students to finish with perseverance and purpose, trusting that God is growing something good in their hearts, their work, and their relationships.

Thank you for your continued partnership, prayer, and support. With God’s help, and together as one community, we’ll continue to see beautiful things bloom.

We invite you to stay up-to-date with current events by following First Baptist School’s social media and our school webpage. #WeAreFB

Be Blessed!
