Greetings, First Baptist Community!
As we step into the month of March, I am reminded of Isaiah 43:19, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” This verse beautifully captures the spirit of the season before us. We welcome spring with grateful hearts, longer days, warmer sunshine, and the fresh reminder that God is always at work, bringing growth and renewal in ways both seen and unseen. In just a week, we will “spring forward” with the beginning of Daylight Saving Time, and that simple shift in the clock serves as another reminder that we are moving into a season of light and new beginnings. Just as the earth awakens, so too do opportunities for growth in our students, our classrooms, and our community.
Exciting things are happening on both of our campuses this month. Our preschoolers and second graders will have the wonderful opportunity to attend performances at the Dock Street Theatre. Experiences like these enrich learning far beyond the classroom walls and allow our students to encounter creativity and storytelling in meaningful ways. Downtown, we are also looking forward to hosting Birds of Prey for a special presentation with our K5 - 4th-grade students, an engaging, hands-on opportunity to spark curiosity and deepen understanding of God’s creation. It is hard to believe that March 12 marks the end of the third quarter. The year is moving quickly, and we are so proud of the growth we continue to see in our students academically, spiritually, and socially. On March 13, we will host a Downtown Talent Show. We cannot wait to celebrate the unique gifts and talents God has placed in each of our students. It promises to be a joyful evening for our school family. Please note that March 18 will be a teacher workday, and there will be no school for students. We are grateful for this dedicated time for our faculty to plan, reflect, and continue strengthening instruction for the remainder of the year.
One of the highlights of the spring season is the FBS Biennial Auction, which will be held at the Harbour Club on March 21. This special evening is not only a wonderful time of fellowship, but also an important event that supports the mission and growth of our school. If you have not yet purchased your tickets, I encourage you to do so soon before we sell out. We look forward to a memorable night together. The week of March 23 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers pour their hearts into the calling God has given them, investing daily in the lives of our children. I invite you to send a note of encouragement to your child’s teacher during that week, letting them know how much their dedication and hard work mean to your family. A few heartfelt words can go a long way in affirming their ministry. We are also excited to celebrate the National Junior Honor Society Induction on March 30. This ceremony honors students who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. It is a proud moment for our school community as we recognize young leaders who are striving to reflect Christ in both word and action.
March 24-26 will be a special time for our entire school community as we host Christian Focus Week Chapels. During these three days, we will welcome guest speakers and worship leaders to lead us in chapel as we intentionally focus on the spiritual growth of our students. Christian Focus Week is something we have done in the past, and we are excited to work toward restoring it as an annual tradition. Our prayer is that these chapels will encourage our students to deepen their faith, grow in their understanding of God’s Word, and strengthen their personal walk with Christ.
Finally, I want to give a tremendous shout-out to our Varsity Girls Basketball team, the 2026 SCISA State Champions! Friday, February 27, our team fought hard in an intense game all the way to the end, leading to their victory. We are incredibly proud of these young women for their hard work, perseverance, teamwork, and determination. Their accomplishment is a testament to their commitment and to the coaches who have guided them so faithfully. What an incredible achievement for our school!
As we move through this month of growth and celebration, may we remember the promise of Isaiah 43:19. God is always doing a new thing, bringing light where there was darkness, growth where there was stillness, and hope where there was waiting. As we spring forward into this new season, may we open our eyes to see the many ways He is working in and through our school community.
We invite you to stay up-to-date with current events by following First Baptist School’s social media and our school webpage. #WeAreFB
Be Blessed!
