Welcome Back, First Baptist School Community!
This week marks a special milestone in the life of First Baptist School as we celebrate the 77th start of school in our history. What a privilege it is to welcome our students, families, faculty, staff, and community members to the 2026-2027 chapter of the FBS story. For more than seven decades, generations of students, families, educators, and leaders have helped shape the school we know and love today. We stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, grateful for the strong foundation they established and for their commitment to creating an environment where students are challenged, encouraged, known, and loved. That legacy continues today through our commitment to Academic Excellence with a Christian Perspective.
I am especially grateful for our outstanding faculty, staff, and administrators. Throughout the summer and in these important days leading up to the start of school, they have worked with tremendous care and dedication to prepare classrooms, programs, schedules, facilities, and countless details for the year ahead. Our faculty’s investment in our students and families is one of the great strengths of First Baptist School, and I hope you will join me in thanking them for all they have done to make this opening possible.
As we begin this new year together, we will center our community around our school-year theme, The Beatitudes. In Matthew 5, Jesus offers us a beautiful picture of what it means to live as members of His Kingdom, marked by humility, mercy, righteousness, purity of heart, peacemaking, and faithfulness. My prayer is that these truths will shape not only what our students learn this year, but also how we learn, lead, serve, compete, create, and care for one another. Every new school year brings fresh opportunities: new friendships, new challenges, new discoveries, and new ways to grow in knowledge, character, and faith. I am excited to see what God has in store for First Baptist School in the months ahead and deeply thankful that each of you is part of this community.
May the 77th year of First Baptist School be filled with joy, purpose, growth, and meaningful moments together. I wish each of our students, families, faculty, and staff a wonderful start to the 2026-2027 school year!
God bless your family, and welcome back to FBS!
Warmly,
Dr. Justin Mitchell
Head of School
