Greetings, First Baptist Community!
March is a special time as we continue celebrating 75 years of Academic Excellence with a Christian Perspective at First Baptist School! Our journey has been one of faith, perseverance, and dedication to Christian education. As 1 Corinthians 15:58 reminds us: "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
For 75 years, First Baptist School has remained steadfast in its mission to equip students with strong academic foundations while nurturing their faith. This month, we look forward to celebrating this legacy with our Founding Fun Day on March 15th at our James Island campus! It will be a wonderful day of fellowship, activities, and reflection on God’s blessings throughout our school’s history.
If you have been on our James Island campus recently, you have likely noticed the golden daffodils on display behind the main building. Their planting intends to brighten our school community with their hopeful bloom, a vibrant symbol of renewal and remembrance. These cheerful blossoms not only mark the arrival of spring but also carry a deeper meaning through The Daffodil Project, an initiative dedicated to commemorating the past while inspiring a more hopeful future.
Planted in memory of the children victims of the Holocaust and solidarity, these flowers remind us of the resilience and strength that connect us across generations. As you walk past their bright petals this season, take a moment to reflect on the power of remembrance, education, and unity. Let us nurture a world where kindness and understanding flourish—just like these daffodils.

On our athletic front, congratulations are in order for our Varsity Girls Basketball team! Though we fell just short in the state championship game, we couldn’t be more proud of how this team played with heart, determination, and sportsmanship. Our students showed up in full force, turning Sumter purple and making their presence known! We also want to congratulate our all-region varsity basketball players: Ava Rush, Gabbey Moore, Dyarri Braddick, Paige Pouyat, Maddy Pojani, James Pojani.
A special congratulations to Coach Presley Singleton, who was named All-Region Coach of the Year—a well-earned recognition for an outstanding leader. As we close out winter sports, spring athletics are already in full swing and we look forward to seeing our teams in action. Be sure to check the athletic calendar and follow our athletic social media pages to stay updated on all the action. Let’s go, Hurricanes!
As we go through this time of reflection on our school’s history, may we continue to build on the strong foundation laid before us and remain committed to the work of the Lord for generations to come. Thank you for being a part of the First Baptist School family!
