Meet the Teacher: Julie Kroeger, 2nd Grade

Julie Kroeger joins FBS this year teaching 2nd grade!

I was born in Charleston but grew up in North Carolina.  After graduating with a degree in Sociology from The College of Charleston in 1998, I worked for several banks in the Lowcountry before returning to school in 2011. Although banking was a great experience, I yearned to do something more fulfilling and meaningful with a chance to make a difference.  I graduated from The College of Charleston, for the second time, in 2013 with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  For the past 7 years, I have been teaching Kindergarten at Charleston Collegiate School.  My husband, Billy and I live on James Island, and we have an amazing little girl, Katie.  Spending time with family and friends, beach and boat days, music, playing tennis, traveling and reading are some of my favorite things

My goals as your child’s teacher are simple. I will strive to make our classroom a place where the children feel safe and comfortable, where their minds are stimulated and where they enjoy the learning process. Together, we will work to help your Second Grader develop into a curious, caring, and responsible little person. I hope to provide your child with a love of God, a firm academic foundation, opportunities to build social skills, and pride in themselves. These basic elements will give any child the opportunity to blossom.

I am very excited to be a part of the First Baptist School family and getting to know you and your child. My family has a long history with the school and church, and both have always held a special place in my heart.  My Grandmother was a teacher here for many years, and my Mom and numerous family members all graduated from First Baptist School. My daughter Katie (K-3) and I are excited to join the First Baptist family this school year.

My favorite Bible verse is Numbers 6:24-26. "The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace."
