April Head of School Update & Hurricane Watch Newsletter

Greetings, First Baptist Community!

As we embrace the changing seasons and the promise of renewal that April brings, we are reminded of the old adage, "April showers bring May flowers." Just as the rain nourishes the earth, our school community continues to grow and flourish in both spirit and knowledge.

In reflecting on the connection between April showers and May flowers, we find inspiration in the words of Isaiah 55:10-11: "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."

Just as rain brings forth life from the earth, God's word nurtures our minds and souls, guiding us on our educational journey and preparing us to bloom in His service. We are blessed to have had so many exciting things going on for both campuses this month. Our students have participated in exciting field trips, engaging school projects, and a variety of community service opportunities.

Before spring break, nearly 50 students took the stage in our 1st-12th grade production of "Peter Pan." It was wonderful to see students from both campuses come together with a shared goal.  April is a very busy month in the arts, with multiple upcoming programs.  On Saturday, April 27th, our annual High School Art & Photography show will open for one week of showcasing student work on our James Island Campus.  Sunday, April 28th, 95 students from K3-12th grade will take the stage at Burke High School in our annual FBS Spring Dance Showcase. Our April arts events will conclude with our music showcase on Tuesday, April 30th, featuring our band and choir students presenting an evening of music on our Downtown Campus.  Please mark your calendars for these special events coming from our Fine Arts Department's various programs.

First Baptist spring athletic teams are off to great starts to their respective seasons. Varsity boys soccer remains undefeated as they took control of their region with a big overtime win over Pinewood last week! Girls soccer continues to work hard as they achieved their first win of the season with a resounding win over Northwood. Our varsity baseball team picked up a huge 1-0 victory at home over Pinewood in one of the most exciting games of the season. Softball is back at First Baptist and our JV team is undefeated to start the year, so far outscoring their opponents 48-20. Track & Field continues to compete at the highest levels with so many of our athletes achieving personal best records from one meet to the next. Each of our varsity golfers have improved and recorded their career low scores. With a lot of hard work and dedication, our golf team at First Baptist has a very bright future ahead over the next few years.

As we navigate the remainder of the school year, let us continue to embrace the blessings of growth, learning, and community. May the showers of April nourish our minds and hearts, leading us to bloom into the beautiful flowers God intended us to be.

Wishing you all a joyful and fruitful April!
