Distance Learning Information

Per the orders of Governor McMaster and the evolving situation with COVID-19, we are transitioning to distance learning beginning on 3/30/2020. The purpose of this information is to update everyone for the events this week and the days following Spring Break when we shift to distance learning. Please read below carefully for some important information.

Class Packet and Device Pick Up- Tuesday, March 17th, 7:30 am- 3:30 pm

  • Lower School students (Grades K2-8)-You will be emailed by your child's homeroom teacher regarding pick up items (packets, devices if needed, etc.).

  • High School students (Grades 9-12)- If you require a device, please come to the main office at James Island during the pick-up times. If you do not need a device, then you will not need to go to campus.

  • Your child's packets and devices, if needed, will be located at their respective campus locations.

Distance Learning Trial Day- Wednesday, March 18th, 9:00 am- 11:00 am

  • Google Classroom will be the primary source of school work communication during this distance learning period.

  • Many of our students have already utilized Google Classroom and are familiar with login procedures. Students will only be able to view the class information with their school assigned email address.

  • All students in grades 3-12 have a school assigned email address. Students in grades K2-2 will receive their school email information during pick-up time tomorrow (3/17).

  • To ensure that everyone can log on properly, we will need all students (parents may be logging in for lower elementary students) to log in to each Google Classroom between 9:00 am- 11:00 am. Students should log in to EACH of their classes and complete the task under the tab "Classwork." This will be a straightforward attendance check-in as well as a small ungraded activity for students to complete.

  • As a school, we feel it is best to keep students' routines as close to "normal" as possible. Each grade will have a structured daily schedule based on their class schedule. Students and teachers will be following the schedule for each grade level.

  • Full Distance Learning is set to begin on Monday, March 30th, and it will be considered an "A" day. Your child's daily schedule is clearly outlined in the shared document.

  • Once Distance Learning begins, students will need to log in to the classes during the time outlined on their daily schedule.

I know this may be a lot of information to process right now, but the essential items will be pick-up day tomorrow and the trial period on Wednesday. If you experience any trouble with logging in on Wednesday, please email your child's teacher immediately, and we will work with you to get that corrected.

We desire to serve all of you in the coming days ahead to the best of our abilities. We are praying for all of you and your families during this time of transition. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please email your campus administrators or me.

Through all of this, our prayer is that Jesus Christ would be glorified.

Blessings,

Jeremy Blackstock

Head of School
