Greetings, First Baptist Community!
As we step into November, this verse from 1 Thessalonians continues to echo in my heart: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” What a powerful reminder, not just to feel thankful when things are easy or joyful, but to choose gratitude as a way of life, no matter the season or situation. As a school, this kind of thankfulness is the foundation we strive to build in the hearts of our students: a posture of gratitude that shapes not only how they learn, but how they live.
It’s hard to believe we’ve officially begun the second quarter of the school year. The weeks have flown by, filled with meaningful work and memorable moments. I want to take a moment to sincerely commend our students and teachers for the dedication they bring each day. Their perseverance, creativity, and pursuit of Academic Excellence with a Christian Perspective have been nothing short of inspiring. Whether it’s through rigorous academics, artistic expression, acts of kindness, or spiritual growth, we are seeing the fruit of their labor, and we give thanks. October was rich with highlights. Our Grandparents Day celebration on October 24th was a beautiful reminder of the legacy and love that surrounds our students. Watching grandparents walk the campus, engage with classrooms, and share in pride and laughter was a joy for us all. We ended the month with an incredible Homecoming Spirit Week from October 27-31, which filled our campus with colorful dress days, games, and joyful school pride. That celebration carried right into November 1st, when our high school students danced the night away at a festive Homecoming Dance. It was a wonderful evening of fun, community, and memories made. We are especially grateful for the way our community came together to support the Lowcountry Orphan Relief clothing drive. Your generosity has made a tangible difference in the lives of children who need warmth and care this season.
Looking ahead, November brings even more opportunities for our students to grow, explore, and give thanks. Our fifth-grade students will embark on their overnight trip to Camp Leopold, and our sixth graders will travel to YMCA Blue Ridge, both from November 5-7. These trips provide more than adventure; they create space for reflection, team-building, and new perspectives that deepen learning beyond the classroom walls. We’re also counting down to one of our most cherished traditions: the First Grade Thanksgiving Play, taking place on November 20th. This beloved performance reminds us of the simple joys of the season and the powerful lessons that can come from our youngest learners. It is always a heartwarming moment that brings smiles and sentiments of thankfulness. And while Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, it’s also a season of looking ahead, especially for our seniors. There is a growing sense of excitement as college acceptances begin rolling in for the Class of 2026. We are so proud of them, not just for where they’re going, but for who they’ve become. Their hard work, resilience, and faith are shining through, and it is a joy to watch their futures begin to unfold.
In this season, may we all be reminded that gratitude is not only a response; it is a choice, a discipline, and a calling. As we reflect on all that God has accomplished through this community and anticipate all that is still to come, may we continue to give thanks, not just for the blessings we can see, but also for the growth that happens in quiet, steady ways. Thank you for the many ways you support, serve, and speak life into this school. It is a joy to walk this journey together.
